I've lost count of how many 'roast pumpkin salads' I've had in country pubs, typically chunks of boiled pumpkin and packet salad thrown into a bowl. Or you might get a fake meat burger. At the Settlers there were multiple vegetarian options on the menu and I had excellent cauliflower tacos. Doesn't sound promising, but it was top notch. The burger options were house made - no fake meat here. While the mythology suggests Margs is full of hippies, there is less vegetarian food than you would imagine and just token efforts by a number of the the posh wineries. Relax at the Settlers with a beer and something better. The wine list isn't bad either.

Good pub food, nice ambience and a good selection of local and imported beers and wines. A family friendly pub and a nice outdoor area. Worth a visit.

We’d been here for a drink a few nights ago and sat outside. Tonight it was raining so we went into the bistro. It was really busy, but they found us a table. Service was excellent very efficient and rapid given how busy the place was. The food was really good, lamb koftas- beautifully spiced - and a lamb curry- absolutely delicious. The desserts were excellent too, a large creme brûlée, one of the best we’ve had.

The Settler's Tavern is on the main street in Margaret River. We had a 6:30 reservation and drove to the parking lot behind the building. They seated us right away at a table in the main dining room. I had a good lamb curry and my wife had fish tacos. My wife's daughter had a vegetarian dish with rice, cauliflower and green beans. The dinners were all good as well as the house shiraz.

Six years since visiting this pub and visually it hasn’t changed a bit. Good range of tap beers, and everything you could possibly want available in bottles. We watched food being served in the main bar, but when the bistro opened, food service was no longer available in the bar, which I found strange. Went around to the bistro and was told by one staff member that they were full and no tables were available. Asked another staff member and was seated immediately. The lady taking the meal orders was clueless and told us the 300g rump was sold out, until suddenly it wasn’t. I worked out that staff training doesn’t seem to be a priority at this pub. The meals arrived quickly and they were fine, but the arrogance of the wait staff behind the bar in the bistro, especially one male member, is something I don’t strike often and clearly he would have preferred to be somewhere else. All in all an average venue, with (surprisingly) little pub style competition in the area which allows them to thrive with minimal effort I believe.
